Midwest College Consulting is a student-centered team dedicated to guiding high school students and families through the college admissions process with clarity, compassion, and expertise.

Role Overview

We are seeking a part-time contract Independent Educational Consultant to support students and families throughout their college planning journey. This remote role includes providing personalized guidance, reviewing applications and essays, and leading virtual consultations. Collaboration with our team is encouraged to ensure top-quality client experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Advise students on college planning, application strategy, and timelines

  • Build balanced college lists aligned with each student’s goals and competitiveness

  • Review and provide feedback on applications, résumés, essays, and supplements

  • Lead virtual meetings and maintain consistent communication with families

  • Track student progress and document session notes

  • Stay current with admissions trends and best practices

Compensation & Hours

  • Compensation: Consultants are paid a percentage of the fees paid by each family they directly support. Details will be shared during the interview process.

  • Schedule: Hours are flexible and self-managed, but consultants must be available for student meetings after school/evenings and occasional weekends, especially during peak admissions season.

  • Initially a part-time role with potential to develop into a full-time role if desired.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of direct experience in college admissions or college counseling

  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organization and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred

  • Familiarity with the U.S. college admissions landscape and commitment to ongoing professional development
